Junior and Senior Infants have enjoyed learning about People Who Help Us. We started of our theme with Gregory telling us about the role of the postman. He showed us stamps from the past and some special stamps that people like to collect. We learnt about where our post goes when we post it and how it gets to everyone’s homes. Then we got to try on his postman uniform.
The following week we welcomed the Fire Brigade to our school. We learnt about all the equipment needed to fight different fires and we had to use all our muscles to hold onto the hose as the water came out.
We ended our theme by dressing up as what we would like to be when we are older. We have also enjoyed making patterns for maths using cubes, peg boards and stickers. We are building up our muscles in our hands with play dough and dough disco. We played doctors and nurses in the teddy bear hospital. We are working on name recognition and did a name hunt inn the playground. We continue to enjoy Elevate kids and our GAA with Gavin.

JUNIOR AND SENIOR INFANTS
We start everyday with our days of the week song and updating our calendar. Over the week we enjoyed playing some maths boards games and used the iPads to play games from ICT games and top marks. We made snakes and ladders jigsaws then played the game. Along with leaning about numbers we learnt about sharing and taking turns. We went outside to measure how many things we could find longer and shorter than ten cubes. We measured everyone’s height with a piece of string. Then made it into a present for mammy and daddy. We made patterns with jewels on our maths table. Finally we used our maths eyes to look for maths all around us.

Spellings for Me
Spellings for Me is an online and an offline programme. The online aspect is the child's profile, where they log in and take a series of tests. The offline aspect is the differentiated workbook. This is a valuable resource to accompany the online program. It provides a clear framework of activities for both teachers and students. Within this framework, are differentiated activities that support the child's learning of the errors they made online. Login and enjoy the fun !

Chicks and Ducks !!
What an exciting few weeks we have had a Scoil Mhuire! We started off with some chick and duck eggs and we watched them everyday with great excitement to see what would happen. Then one day we saw a crack in one of the eggs and one by one they hatch. We moved them from the incubator to a small pen. Finally the chicks and ducks went to their forever home with some of the children.
